The importance of being good

Just the other day, they were playing this old Hindi classic movie, ‘Bawarchi’. Instantly, my grumpiness had vanished. Magic!
It was then when I realized the true worth of good things. A good book, good conversation or even a good dress; just about anything that is good actually ends up energizing you and takes away all your tiredness. It’s surprising on how it can even relieve you off body ache after a tiring gym workout!
Sometimes while I am working on something that is not one of my favorite things but has to be done, I feel like just finishing it off. But now when I think about it, I feel that is not how it should be done. For instance, I hate the documentation part at my work. I have to prepare a Test Report that gives in details about the test execution, challenges faced, outstanding issues and a whole lot of other things. I like executing the test and finding bugs rather than putting in writing the whole process followed at the end of Test cycle. I believe execution is more important than this documentation procedure. But on second thoughts, I realized that if I do it well, it will be helpful during a review when the product is delivered to customer and will also help me later for my own reference.
It takes a lot of patience & hard work to get things done well. A sense of gratification is achieved in the end when you notice that it has either helped someone or at least got a smile on someone’s face. For example, ‘Bawarchi’ movie not only made me smile but also gave me some food for thought. Two out of the many things that the main character mentioned stayed on with me:
·         Everyone can do their own work but one gets true satisfaction when you do someone else’s work
·         It is simple to be happy but difficult to be simple (My favorite!)
This post is dedicated to that movie which made my day. Also, it has inspired me to do all my work well to have a ‘good’ day J
